Catching Dreams

my name is American Indian. so i've always had an inclination of loveliness towards these brave people, & their care for the earth.

the Indians make dream catchers to help dissipate bad dreams. the beads on the dreamcatcher "catch" the negative dreams, & the feathers are said to be the feathers of a bird to carry the bad dreams away.

one day in Handmade Naturals{a little organic shop in West end ~ such a delightful little shop!} a tiny dreamcatcher appeared hanging off a beam, & the quartz around the outside was luminous! this dreamcatcher caught my heart...

then one day, it was gone, offering pleasant dreams to another home. i've pondered it in quiet hours, but only last week did it dawn on me, that i could try to make one...

so i didnt stop at one.

but made a few.

little treasures.

filled with love{& lined with handstitched hearts}...

wafting in the breeze,

catching dreams as they go by

& offering love

till the sun sets, in the distance...

Today is finding bright spots on moonlit horizons!

algorithms of the ocean

i was never good at math. i didnt understand it. my brain won't compute it.

but we've been discussing mathematicians & mathematical procedure, the nature of circumference, the properties of a line, the characteristics of a circle...why is it that a circle will never fit into a square?

& that all the shapes in the universe {sun, moon, stars, planets} revolve as circles rather than any other shape?

while we were at Borders the other week, Mum bought some math books, & i had a peek in one{which im now reading}. Fascinating!

its called "the music of the primes"...im hooked! Sautoy explains,

"The primes are the jewels studded throughout the vast expanse of the infinite universe of numbers that mathematicians have explored down the centuries. For mathematicians they instil a sense of wonder: 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23...-timeless numbers that exist in some world independant of our physical reality. They are Nature's gift to the mathematician."

& i look at this most exquisite post, & marvel that even though we dont understand the mathematical components {the algorithms of the ocean, the calculations to figure out how many grains of sand, the opaque reckoning of the atmosphere, not to mention the measuring to make the gorgeous dress} we can enjoy the beauty!

& basking on the shoreline of wonder at this illuminating video clip!

& a beautiful math filled day for you! :)

such simple things

"I like to walk about among the beautiful things that adorn the world."
George Santayana

there are in life such simple things
such as
the ability to look up instead of down,
to see the stars
not just the dirt
& if there is dirt,
to grow in it
a flower.
~ the gift of perspective

& some simple things that make me smile today
~ the smell of the grass after rain falls
~ lightbulbs
~ cushions covered in toille
~ polite "Thank yous"
~ silence in the moonlight {gazing upwards, always, always}
~ steps, stone ones
~ the pitter patter of the heart following dreams
~ wheels, for travelling
~ kind words {from you}

what a delight to participate in this challenge!
& to read the words of beauty found in Miss Christina's tremendous posts, the beauty of her words & images astounds me!!!

"Great doors swing on small hinges."
So hope, I chase it!!!

Today, & always

visitors, almost & happenstance

last week we had some unexpected visitors...
that chirped & frolicked out the window

i almost ...
had a profiterol flavoured gelati
but as it happened,
i tried the caramel.

i almost...
put my hair in rags {like the old days to make tight curls}
but as it happened
i dyed my hair a daring shade of red instead

i happened
upon a photo advertising a doona cover, she was sitting by the window with the doona cover arranged like a ball dress
i couldnt find it again so
i took a photo like it

& i nearly...
missed the ysa ball {with a Titanic theme}
but we went!

What has eventuated in your corner of the world? {little unexpected surprises of delight}

Today smiles!!!

a very special doll for a very special girl,
sheltering under a lace parasol,
a sweet bird chirping upon her shoulder

cradling a Russian doll,
inviting you to a tea party with her...

i have wanted to make this doll for a long while now,
to show her how special she is
& how remarkable she will become

Today magnifies beams of light
