on that which moves me ~ donkeys & maps

"We were written in the stars, my love, all that separated us, was time, the time it took to read the map which was placed within our hearts, to find our way back to one another." Unknown

"A good plan is like a road map: it shows the final destination and usually the best way to get there."
H. Stanley Judd

"Who can map out the various forces at play in one soul? Man is a great depth, O Lord. The hairs of his head are easier by far to count than his feeling, the movements of his heart."
Saint Augustine

my hearts gives me a map which leads me to you.

"it is not down in any map; true places never are." Herman Melville

“All you need is the plan, the road map, and the courage to press on to your destination.”
Earl Nightingale

“How we remember, what we remember, and why we remember form the most personal map of our individuality.”
Christina Baldwin

"There is great meaning in life for those who are willing to journey."
Jim England

"The feeling remains that God is on the journey, too."
Teresa Of Avila

"The only journey is the one within."
Rainer Maria Rilke

There are, i think, those journeys which take us higher!

'He saw that i was leaving & in his little way he asked, oh mama, bring me too...'

Donkeys because they've shared in some of the most special Christmas travels, & because of the beauty & gentle nature they convey...& maps because of the places they take us, things we could never find if we didnt have them to guide us, they allow us to dream of roads others have traversed!!! i began looking for maps because for the longest time i have wanted to paint a ginormous watercolour map & put it on the wall, or embroider a map of the heart on a white lace hankie...

today is special...because of where we've been, because of where we're going, because we've blazed trails...because we've helped others to get there too!!! loveliest thoughts

excitement for our capacity to love!!!

a special day!!!

an unveiling of sorts!!

im so excited to be able to share with you this website...

it has been a labour of love these past months!!! an effortless work by Rebecca {who saw a need & cared enough to see it through}& those who joined her on her quest, & donated their time & talents in every capacity to make this event an event that can help raise money for these dear children.

In Rebecca's own words"i believe in impossibly small seeds, perfect seeds we carry in our hearts becoming exquisite offerings of miraculous possibilities where compassion and generosity are the shared language."

the auction will open tomorrow. 100% of the proceeds go directly to the Oaxaca Street Children Grassroots program, & in bidding on these beautiful shrines you will be able to have something special to remember your contribution by.

today is the bounty & beauty creative generosity can bring to the hearts of children in need. i am reminded of a famous & most relevant speech..."No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. & Every mans death diminishes me, because i am a part of mankind." John Donne & so also, every one who smiles, every tiny need cared for, every heart healed, every soul fed, strengthens us all, as we share in ways that illuminate each other!!! Happy Bidding, dear friends!!!

Our lives, Sublime!

A Psalm of Life
What the heart of the young man said to the Psalmist
[An Excerpt}

Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time;--

Footprints, that perhaps another,
Sailing o'er life's solemn main,
A forlorn and shipwrecked brother,
Seeing, shall take heart again.

Let us, then, be up and doing,
With a heart for any fate;
Still achieving, still pursuing,
Learn to labor and to wait.
From "Voices of the Night"
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

!gladness!

before i ventured into writing a blog,

i was an avid reader & fan

i found little quotes & vibrant inspiration appearing in front of me when i would sit down & do a bit of a search...

so i started writing a few journal pages laced with quotes that made me smile, & filled with pockets of ideas, & i painted & glued, snipped & thought, & filled some pages with creative possibility

on this page i list a few quotes of hope, then made a catalogue of my "heart-thoughts"

"i'd love to:
read a book in the moonlight, attend a teaparty under the stars, sing in the snow, relax in a rocking chair on the beach, cuddle a porcupine, dance on a rainbow, paint amongst the flowers, fit snuggly under an umbrella in a rainforest, have a picnic on the clouds, illuminate tiny moments, collect lovely images, find seashells in lake beds, breath the starlight, discover mosaic words, learn to weave poetry & display wistfully poetic images, tremble bravely, laugh gently, savour goodness, remember with gratitude, kneel in the temple...tiptoe through heaven"

today is the bounty of pink & red roses Mum & Dad brought home, sparkling cranberry & lime spritz, & collecting oddities! & a bounty of beautiful wishes for you!!!

~ballerina tippytoes~

this week is a longing to learn to twirl like this, a remembering of a childhood excursion, one poignant moment{& how strange it should be here because this is the only part i remember still!} sitting lightly on the edge of my chair, heart outstretched towards the luminous stage of fluttering swans, arrayed all in white~ the theatre dark, but my heart shining watching them, even watching them must be done gracefully!

a lovely week of shimmering cards{Thankyou...sing i shall!!!}
& days filled with peppermint soap & lavendar sachets! lovely thoughts

Happy Easter!!!

Easter moments filled with gathering wattle & hunting for brightly wrapped chocolate eggs,

a symbol of the Savior's resurrection...have you heard of Jeremy's egg? today im thankful for the Atonement, a chance to repent & try harder, & especially moments when i can sit down with coloured crayons{to mark my scriptures} & drink deeply from the words which tell of the Easter story!

Hope you all have a truly lovely Easter filled with these pretty things!!!
