~ a month to journal ~

this month has been pronounced NaNoJouMo month

which stands for National Nonstop journalling month,

& so each day of the month is designated with a new inspiration word to journal.

i was quite excited to hear about this as i have not done any art journalling recently...it seemed to be a whole palette of inspiration swirling, though i dont know if i'll be able to do all the days...
Day 1. the word was purity

my page reads, "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God"
& underneath the curtain is a symphony of starshine, the inscription above the score {which tells how the music should be played/sang}

reads {with purity}

& the inscription underneath the repeating barlines
reads {repeat endlessly}

Day 3: inspire
{day 2 didnt seem to fit next to the first so i moved it} the writing says:
Inspired by an Alannah Hill handbag,
not in my budget
but still in my dreams!

i continued chopping & changing days for the double page layout...

Day 7: compassion

defined as "to look upon someone else's needs as though they were your own"

the tag under the feather reads, "having a spare loveheart in every pocket of your soul"

Day 4: beauty

the card reads
there is beauty all around, when there's love at home

Today is a dash of the splendid{& a rowboat in the rain :) }

p.s there is plenty more days & lovely new words if you'd like to join in!!!

the early bird. a visual couplet

a little collection of white from simon schubert

a postcard from motion lamp

& lengthening our stride,

{because Today...the early bird gets the worm!} :) preparing for the exam on days before its taken{figuratively/procrastination}, moments of patience that save us from regret..."if you are patient in one moment of anger, you will escape a hundred days of sorrow" Chinese proverb, working now for something that will be more meaningful later

hidden valleys ~ vistas of gold{with flecks of shining silver}

the day shone fresh

& Radiant!

walking along the street a couple of weeks ago, & passing an inviting looking doorway

we went in...to find an art exhibit in the Hamilton room! works heralding giant butterflies & tiny boatsheds nestled at the end of a pier ~ & my favourite, a watercolour, two ladies in Victorian dress, being poured tea, underneath the branches of a blooming jacaranda tree.

...The days lately,

are either filled with skies of brilliant cardboard blue

{that looks as though if you could stretch up high enough your fingertips would touch it}

or grey skies painting the treetops with flecks of shining silver.

precious cargo

a saturday adventure

i was so excited to find this stall

& scooped up one of her precious le petit bateau kits i've read so much about{i haven't had time to assemble it yet} & a package of postcards

with a little quote that surprised me, Tenderly

"O God, be good to me
The sea is so wide
& my boat is so small"
The Fishermans Prayer

it was a special adventure...an old museum, arched windows, echoing cavities, stair railings so large they resemble columns, & a curiously large tree...even my brother found a meaningful card, a work of art!

Today is startling beauty & little mountains, Flourishing{something moving from the market that i'll hopefully have to show you all soon!}

all aglow ~ Dia di Bloglandia

i first heard of Dia de los muertos

when i happened across this endearing altered book on Karens Whimsy{the poem seemed particularly special}

then i found a book she did for the holiday, & her explanation of it was touching

i did a little more research into the meaning of la ofrenda & found this

& so now i feel ready to participate in this...Dia di Bloglandia

with my cigar box contribution for the children of Oaxaca

i think that because it is a day

when dear ones are supposed to visit from heaven

{& keeping in mind that everywhere we go we take a little piece of where we've been}

i wanted it to feel like a little bit of that, some heaven on earth...

with an oversized window box{for the beauty & growth} & some special books{for imparting their journey & wisdom}

beckoning generously

& sharing

as the little bird overlooks,
Remembering...& Anticipating a favoured reunion.
My offering
is dedicated

to someone who often discovered echidnas in long grass,
who loved the sunshine
& blowing big bubble gum bubbles

who wore pink & red
& sang like the sweetest of songbirds

who knew how to love, & she does!

Today is eternal families!!!

vivid, serene, buoyant, graceful

images that are like waves

lapping, lapping

at the shoreline of my heart
