a day of celebration

Shelter
"You can almost touch the ocean
Shimmering in the distant haze,
As you stand there on the mountain
On this loveliest day of days.
Round half the world you've drifted
Left no wild oats unsown,
But now your view has shifted
And you think you've just come home.
~~~~~
And you're drowning in the sunshine
As it pours down from the sky,
And there's something stirring in your heart
Bright colours fill your eyes.
As from here to the far horizon
Your beauty does unfold,
And oh, you look so lovely
Dressed in green and gold. "
Today we ponder Australia. (What would she be without us. What would we be without each other!)
& then, she flew
Butterflies of fascination alite
On fingertips of the soul
Awakening destiny
We fly on translucent wings.
Happy new year! Notice the fragrance of new beginnings wafting along the airwaves, with the promise of pleasant possibilities & the chance to repair old wounds. A time to be all that lies splendidly within us. An opportunity once more, to expand & invigorate our souls.
I went on a plane new years eve (hence the gorgeous Austalian shoreline above) to a destinaiton i could not foresee, but tucked in my heart those who would be awaiting my return. & so, i flew. My handbag lined in faith & a pocketfull of possibilities, a new year adventure. I saw the sydney fireworks...from a rooftop in the distance, but how i wish i could've been underneath the fireworks & taken the photo above(fireworks photo thanks to reuters via the All things lovely blog).
May our year be filled with the remarkable!
Today i remember fondly.
proprioception of a bear
Hello lovelies! & thank you for all your delightful comments! I just wanted to add these photos to give you some sense of the bears size. Though a fairly small bear, she actually is quite a bit bigger than the other photos may appear, & certainly an eye catcher from anywhere in the room!
p.s my 10 year old sister paints all the pictures!
Today i relish kindness!
one world one heart giveaway 2009
from my hemrt to yours, a bundle of cuddles, in the form of a bear.
dSitting 22cm high, she is needle felted with the finest Australian merino wool. A raw silk tail adorns a velvet ribbon, while a brooch of cotton & silk is nestled on her tummy. A little cranberry coloured dragonfly clip sparkles at her hairline.
gI have deliberated upon giving her a name, but because she is a gift, i shall leave that privilege to you.
zBecause of the delicate nature of the felting process, minimal handling is required, however stroking the wool will only help the matting process.
I believe, as it goes, if you would like to leave a comment below, i will randomly generate the winner & announce the lucky recipient on February 12th. Good luck everyone! Have a lovely week!
p.s i have added a couple of photos on my blog to show her size in proportion to a room when she is sitting on a desk. She is alot bigger than she may appear, many needle felted items fit in the palm of your hand, she is much larger. Please only comment on this post for the OWOH draw though.
Muchas Gracias Señoritas! How exciting this is! & a tremendous word of gratitude for Lisa, our host, of A Whimsical Bohemian. It is such a marvelous event!
clay for Christmas
I found Du Buh Du Designs about 10 weeks ago & was imediately struck with a sense of wonder & lingering intrigue. Her dolls are so beautiful! Her photos are so exquisite! Her site is an array of glittering jewels.
Several times she has had a shop update but as i live in Australia the update usually happens when im wonderfully snoozing, & by morning, poof, they're gone. So clay for christmas was the answer to my predicament, & this beautiful doll was the result. (Though my meagre offering pales in comparison to the workmanship of Du Buh Du dolls!)
Today i dream in aqua.
treasured ponderings
"What is Life?
It is the flash of a firefly in the night. It is the breath of a buffalo in the wintertime. It is the little shadow which runs across the grass and loses itself in the sunset." Blackfoot Indian Proverb
"We must learn to reawaken and keep ourselves awake, not by mechanical aids, but by an infinite expectation of the dawn, which does not forsake us in our soundest sleep. I know of no more encouraging fact than the unquestionable ability of man to elevate his life by a conscious endeavor. It is something to be able to paint a particular picture, or to carve a statue, and so to make a few objects beautiful; but it is far more glorious to carve and paint the very atmosphere and medium through which we look, which morally we can do. To affect the quality of the day, that is the highest of arts. Every man is tasked to make his life, even in its details, worthy of the contemplation of his most elevated and critical hour. If we refused, or rather used up, such paltry information as we get, the oracles would distinctly inform us how this might be done." Henry David Thoreau
What more could i add?
Today i believe in rainbows & hope.
a patch of sunlight
I saw a patch of sunlight the other morning @ 5am, when the newly awakened rays of warm light set one rooftop & its neighbouring green trees aglow, while all around it the sky & vista of the horizon was a flat grey. a little patch of vibrant colour, luminous to the horizon!
Other than that, it has been raining perpetually. The pitter patter of millions of droplets gliding onto the rooftiles & encasing the circumference of your environmental sphere is so cosy & reassuring!
So, a light in the bleak times, some other things that are comfy, cosy, & oh so reassuring...
my ugg slippershoes which i love!
my oversized blanky bags
wearing my aboriginal sarong
the knitted shawl Nanna made (when im sick)
socks! (only when im sick tho)
heaters or fires, being exuberantly warm
being wonderfully with my family
