if i were a painter...

several months ago i was reading etc. by Sibella Court & i was struck by the beauty of the names of the paint in her palettes. i couldnt help but to come up with 4 lists of names i would use if i were developing paints...

although too weary to get out the paints & mix precisely what i had envisaged, i used some fabric & string & a few photos i had on hand to give you somewhat of an idea...

it also struck me that what colour i might imagine for a name such as "bottled smiles" might be different from what you might imagine it as...if when you read a name you feel like a particular colour should match it?

{moonshine, opal(shimmering cream), custard, blushing nectar, petal, baby rose, sweet pea, morning dew, frangipani glow, tinted clamshell}

{glazed meringue, refined silk, heavenly ardour, distant seashore, bursting love, vivid December, flocked cerise, quiet happiness, delicate tidings}

{floral bounty, seabed, lichen(a raspberry colour), saffron, vintage awnings, indigo horizons, irish decadence, lucky stars, velvet armoirs, bottled smiles}

{cinnamon, oak, nutmeg, ancient pewter, frosted silver, pecan surprise, limewash, oxygen(stark white), black apparel}

today is a palette of inspiration & the colour of a smile...

& lovely congratulations to a beautiful blog, Anywhere i lay my head, who won the giveaway!!!{please email me your mailing addy at gowithwisdom@hotmail.com} & also a pretty something for Christina too!!! loveliest wishes

  5. What a wonderful post. I am an artist and have never thought of naming the colors I mix. Perhaps I will from now on.
